My main roles at Cambridge University are to build faculty and student capacity in clinical education research as well as faculty development in education praxis. This includes research skills training teaching, developing new teaching and learning programmes and environments, and leading a large portfolio of clinical education research projects on curriculum development, learner-directed teaching & learning, technology supported education, and creativity & reflexivity in education. Some of my work includes a global health perspective, i.e. in collaboration with The Cambridge Global Health Partnerships and universities in East Africa.
I did my MD at University of Copenhagen, Denmark, a Master of Health Professions’ Education at Maastricht University, The Netherlands, and my PhD at the University of Southern Denmark, Odense. I hold an honorary MRCGP for serving five years as the Medical Director of Curriculum at the Royal College of GPs, UK and a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. I have led several local and national development projects within medical/clinical/health professions’ education, including faculty development, curriculum development, research capacity building and policy making in Denmark, the UK and East Africa, and I have delivered education at undergraduate as well as postgraduate levels within medicine, for faculty and researchers at all levels, as well as interdisciplinary groups of health care deliverers and professionals from other academic environments. I have been chair and member of several national health or educational committees in Denmark and the UK and have received awards and special recognitions for my professional work of pedagogical leadership, curriculum development, research, and innovative health promotion strategies. My main research methodology expertise is within qualitative research, arts-based research, and process designs of participatory action research i.e., based on empowerment evaluation. I started research supervising University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education Masters Students in 2022.
