Many people remain unclear about what autism actually is. This course provides an introduction to the autism spectrum by examining the diagnostic features that define the condition, and some of the research that seeks to explain it. It challenges many of the myths that have arisen in the field, including the belief that autism is an illness to be 'cured'. It also explores the more recent idea that the autism spectrum comprises a set of traits that we all share to varying degrees.
