This course offers a new understanding of the establishment of the Stonehenge ritual landscape. Drawing on recently-found evidence for there being a substantial Mesolithic hunter-gatherer context to the Stonehenge landscape, we will explore whether that was a key reason for the precise siting of Stonehenge. We will then examine the evolving uses of this landscape through the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Romano-British periods.
