This course provides an overview of the basic skills required in the field of mechanical engineering including: understanding simple machines and mechanical advantage, creating and interpreting technical drawings, producing free body diagrams, calculating stress and strain, selecting materials using their mechanical properties and potential causes of failure in mechanical system. Minimum prerequisite: Mathematics Level 3 - A level or equivalent (ie studied Maths up to secondary/high school Year 13/Grade 12 or age 18.)
